However, successful candidates will benefit from both training and practical work experience. SUMMARY OF ROLE STAND is a not-for-profit initiative that celebrates the power of ordinary people to change the world. We want to see an Ireland in which every young person is an active global citizen. Our mission is to empower students across Ireland to solve the world’s biggest challenges. Through STAND, students can share their ideas about standing up for justice and equality, learn more about global issues, and find out what they – as individuals and by coming together – can do to take positive action. We work with students in campuses across Ireland and offer a range of ways to get involved, including the 8x8 Festival, STAND News, the Global Issues evening course and The Ideas Collective. The STAND Ambassador role is an exciting new role for third level students who are committed to tackling global justice and equality issues and want to gain professional experience and skills. The primary purpose of the role is to represent and increase engagement with STAND on campus. The role is a ten-month role, running from June 2018 to March 2019, and will suit students who are interested in gaining experience in communications, event management and project management. ROLE STRUCTURE: Successful candidates will work between the Suas/STAND office in Aungier Street and the third level campus on which they are based. STAND Ambassadors are required to be present in the Suas/STAND office in Aungier Street, Dublin 2 for initial training and for a half-day per month for training and coordination (STAND will cover travel and subsistence costs). While on campus Ambassadors are asked to commit a minimum of 3 hours per week to the role and maintain weekly contact with the STAND Project Manager. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES 1. Develop and implement plans to raise awareness of STAND on campus with support from your STAND Project Manager 2. Develop a profile of your campus and a database of student societies on your campus 3. Meet and develop relationships with society committees, SU members and other students on your campus 4. Act as point of contact between potential STAND supporters on your campus and the STAND team 5. Organise one or more events to raise awareness of STAND on campus 6. Work with the STAND team to organise at least one of the following STAND activities on your campus: ○ The 8x8 Festival ○ The Global Issues evening course 7. Participate in monthly training workshops and events organised by the STAND team 8. Participate in The Ideas Collective in summer 2018 [optional] PERSON SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL
